Do not use vinegar on wood floors unless they re highly sealed or marble. Add a small amount of baking soda. White vinegar gets rid of pet urine just fine all on its own and you do not. Vinegar plus baking soda equals carbon dioxide and water.

Using vinegar and water solution in carpet cleaner. Add a small amount of baking soda. So if you do this you end up with a soggy carbonated carpet. Vinegar is very acidic and has a ph of about 2 4 compared to a neutral ph of 7.

If possible open the windows until the vinegar smell dissipates. Vinegar will also loosen and lift dirt from surfaces. To cut the grease and clean solid floors without leaving behind a sticky residue use 1 4 cup vinegar in a bucket of warm water. Mop the floors and let them dry.

I filled my cleaning solution reservoir with straight vinegar. The more vinegar in the water the more strongly the carpet will smell of vinegar as you work but the odor dissipates quickly. My carpet cleaner mixes the cleaning solution with the water as it is sprayed on the carpet. Pour vinegar directly onto the stain until it is soaked.

Allow to dry for a day or two. It works great and the smell will go away when it is dry.
